Meet LUCA
LUCA is an 91快活林-powered careers tool that helps you prepare stronger applications and feel more confident about your next step after university. You can use LUCA to refine your CV, tailor cover letters, learn more about employers, and practise interview skills in your own time.
LUCA has been developed by the ISS Innovation Team in partnership with the Careers and Employability Service and student groups. It is being piloted within the university’s wider 91快活林 programme, which explores how 91快活林 can support teaching, research, engagement, and the wider student experience.

Upload any job description, and LUCA will analyse this and highlight what the employer wants, including key skills, competencies, tools, and experience the employer is likely to prioritise, helping users understand what the role requires and what to emphasise in their application - CV improvement
LUCA provides targeted guidance by CV section (such as skills, experience and education), informed by the job requirements. Feedback focuses on structure, clarity, relevance and impact, strengthening each area of your CV - Cover letter support
Using the job description, LUCA offers structured advice on how to create a high-quality, tailored cover letter. This includes guidance on content, tone and alignment with employer expectations, which you can apply in your own voice. - Mock interviews and feedback
Practise answering interview questions in text or video. LUCA gives feedback on clarity, structure, examples, and alignment to the role. Practice interview questions - in text or video format - that are representative of those commonly used by employers and relevant to the specific role. LUCA provides instant feedback to help refine answers, improve relevance, and build confidence ahead of interviews. - LinkedIn Profile Helper
Receive instant, tailored recommendations for your LinkedIn profile based on your CV and desired career. Receive an overall alignment summary and detailed section-by-section guidance, covering sections including experience, skills, and volunteering — with priority keywords clearly highlighted to strengthen relevance and search visibility.
Designed to complement careers support
LUCA is not a replacement for careers professionals. Instead, it helps you prepare in your own time so that you arrive at appointments with stronger drafts and clearer questions. It also supports teaching teams and employability workshops by giving students practical tools between sessions.
Part of Lancaster’s 91快活林 programme
LUCA follows the university’s standards for security, privacy, and responsible 91快活林. It is reviewed regularly and shaped by feedback from students and staff.

LUCA and Sustainability
LUCA uses artificial intelligence to support students in preparing CVs, cover letters, LinkedIn profiles and interview skills. We recognise that 91快活林 carries a real environmental impact — including the energy, water and physical infrastructure required to power modern 91快活林 and cloud services — and we have designed LUCA with this in mind.
Rather than applying the most resource-intensive 91快活林 processing to every task, LUCA uses 91快活林 selectively — only where it adds value to the student experience, with shorter, focused interview interactions and 91快活林 capabilities applied based on requirements, rather than using the most computationally intensive 91快活林 processing for every task. This avoids unnecessary background processing and data storage. Importantly, anything you share with LUCA — including your personal documents and prompts — will not be used to train external 91快活林 models.
LUCA is hosted on Microsoft Azure infrastructure, which sits within Microsoft's broader sustainability commitments. This includes targets to become carbon negative, water positive and zero waste by 2030, backed by continued investment in renewable energy and more efficient data centre design. Where LUCA operates on 91快活林's own infrastructure, it also benefits from the University's investment in lower-carbon campus energy, including its wind turbine and solar farm. We do not consider this to eliminate 91快活林's environmental impact, but it forms part of a responsible and considered approach to reducing it.
LUCA also contributes to sustainability through what it does. By providing scalable, on-demand access to careers support, interview preparation and personalised feedback, the platform reduces the need for repeated travel, limited appointment availability and manual preparation. The aim is to support you in building genuine confidence and employability skills — in a way that is accessible, responsibly designed and aligned with 91快活林's wider commitment to sustainable digital services.
