Cartmel College accommodation
Until mid-May 2026, the Net Zero Energy Project contractor, Vital Energi, will be working on the installation of the external district heating pipework at Cartmel College accommodation. From Friday 20 March until September 2026, the contractor will then be working on the connection of the external pipework into plant rooms on the top floor of the houses. Pressure testing and flushing of the pipework will be taking place between Monday 18 May and Friday 5 June.

- Scaffolding will be erected or high-level access machinery will be used at one side of each building. This will allow the installation of pipework up the outside of the buildings and into plant rooms.
- Some pedestrian access routes in the local area will be closed. Diversion signage will be in place and building entrances will be maintained at all times.
- Vital Energi contractors will be accessing the communal stairwells but won’t need access to any student flats.
- The services downtime is expected to take place between 9am and 5pm for a maximum duration of eight hours.

From 7 April until early May 2026, the Net Zero Energy Project contractor, Vital Energi, will be working on the connection of the external district heating pipework to Vital Energi contractors will be installing external pipework only at this time, in readiness for summer internal connections.
