Congratulations to Professor Judit Kormos, our colleague in Linguistics and English Language, who has won the 2025 Susan Gass Award for Impact in Second Language Acquisition (SLA). This award is offered by the journal Studies in Second Language Acquisition (SSLA) together with Cambridge University Press. The citation of the award in SSLA (available at ) states:

“This award was designed to recognize the influence of SSLA’s longtime Editor and overall titan in the field of SLA, Susan Gass. Like Sue, Judit’s impact on the field can be seen on many levels and across a number of unique areas within the field, ranging from cognitive processes and fluency to assessment, dyslexia, and L2 writing. As noted in her nomination, and among many other influences that can be felt at the individual, disciplinary, and societal levels, Judit “is an inspiration for SLA researchers.” She is also known for producing research that is simultaneously of the utmost highest quality and that is equally inclusive and caring.”

Well done Judit for this fitting recognition of your profound and sustained international impact!
